Multi-Day Tours

MULTI-DAY Tours

All of my tours are full-day, with a fully-customised itinerary just for you.

A ‘full-day’ is not nearly enough to delve into what Piemonte has to offer, though.  I have been here over 15 years and there is still plenty for me to see and do: it never gets old discovering new artisans and experiences.  Experiences I can share with you.  And the more time you have, the more I can share.

We could mix-and-match food and wine activities on each day: day 1 could start with a truffle hunt – where you could have an experience like the lady in the photograph! – and then move onto a typical Piemontese lunch followed by a Barbaresco winery visit and tasting.

Day 2 could feature a morning cooking class – using your truffle and working for your lunch!  Then more wine – perhaps a producer in a different region to day 1 – Barolo, for example – or specializing in something particular.

Day 3…well, let’s not get carried away just yet.  But just know that Piemonte is home to chocolate as fine as any made anywhere, and has cheese, pasta and of course, hazelnuts, to die for, and passionate people producing them.

So why not do a multi-day tour?  That way, you don’t have to decide between food or wine – it can be food and wine!

Below is a sample itinerary for a two-day tour, mixing food and wine activities.  If you have the time and inclination, we can do more days than that.  There are plenty of options here…!

What is included

All of my tours are custom-made to fit your requirements.  Below is a typical template for a two-day tour mixing wine tasting and food-related activities.  This is a typical starting point: you can go in whatever direction you would like.  If you have any special interests or requests, such as visiting food producers or hunting for truffles, just let me know: I will do my best to make the tour exactly what you hoped for, plus a little bit more…

SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1

09.30 Pick-up – Generally within a 30 minute drive of Alba.  Usually pick-up will be at your lodging, but if you are coming for a day trip from Turin, for example, then a convenient rail station would be suitable.

10.00 – 12.00 Truffle Hunt – Includes an introduction to truffles and the work of the truffle hunter and their dogs.  Suitable footwear can be provided upon prior request.

Optional Village Stop.

12.30 – 14.30 Lunch – Lunch will be 2 courses with local wine, water and coffee at a typical restaurant or osteria.

15.00 – 17.00 Afternoon Wine Tasting – Following lunch, we will move on to the second tasting of the day.  The location of the winery will depend upon the region chosen.

17.30 Return to Lodging – After the second tasting, you will return to your lodging, typically around 17.30.

Day 2

09.30 Pick-up – Probably at the same place as Day 1, but of course, it will be wherever is convenient for both parties!

10.00 Cooking Class – Learn how to make a range of tradtional Piemontese dishes, from a couple of pasta dishes to an entire meal from antipasti to dessert.  Incorporate your truffles if you have them…!

12.30 – 14.30 Lunch – Lunch will be what you made earlier.  There will be plenty of food, and don’t worry if you have never cooked before – the classes ensure your food is of the highest quality!

15.00 – 17.00 Afternoon Wine Tasting – Following lunch, you will need to relax after your morning’s work.  That means another wine tasting.  The location of the winery will depend upon the region chosen.

17.30 Return to Lodging – After the second tasting, you will return to your lodging, typically around 17.30.

WHAT THE TOUR INCLUDES…

Included – My 25+ years of experience in the wine industry, as well as all the contacts, knowledge and experience I have gained over nearly 20 years living in Piemonte.

Program planning, including logistics, transport, appointments and lunch bookings.

A full itinerary will be sent to you prior to the tour and includes dates and times for every visit/stop, links to producers visited, contact information and any applicable fees (e.g.: winery tasting fees).

Bottled water will also be provided.

AND WHAT IT DOESN’T…

Lunch is not included in the tour price – that way you are free to choose whatever you wish to eat and drink: from white truffles to Cru Barolo.

Extra activities such as cooking classes, truffle hunts and other specialised activities or visits are not included.  Pricing for these can be provided upon request.

Any and all activities not included in the agreed tour itinerary.

Anything not specifically mentioned in the ‘What The Tour Includes’ section.

As mentioned above, this is just an example of what is available for your food and wine adventures in Piemonte.  If you would like to mix-and-match more food and wine activities, then we can do that – the limits are your time and energy!  Click on the ‘Food Tours’ button below to see more food-related activities available.  If you are interested only in visiting wine producers in the region, then there is a button below for that.  If you are interested in just food producers, there is another button for that.  And if you would like to visit other regions in Italy, there is even a button for that…!
