All of my tours are full-day, with a fully-customised itinerary just for you.
I will meet you at your lodging or a suitable pick-up point (such as a rail station, for example), and accompany you all day, before you return to your accomodation.
In between, you will get to visit local wine producers, see how they work and taste their wines. You will also have lunch in a typical restaurant or osteria.
Below is a sample itinerary for a one-day wine tour.
What is included
All of my tours are custom-made to fit your requirements. Below is a typical template for a day tasting wine in the Langhe, Roero or Monferrato: it starts here and can go in whatever direction you would like. If you have any special interests or requests, such as visiting food producers or hunting for truffles, just let me know: I will do my best to make the tour exactly what you hoped for, plus a little bit more…
09.30 Pick-up – Generally within a 30 minute drive of Alba. Usually pick-up will be at your lodging, but if you are coming for a day trip from Turin, for example, then a convenient rail station would be suitable.
10.00 – 12.00 Morning Wine Tasting – First stop will be a wine tasting in the Monferrato, Roero or Langhe, depending upon the region chosen.
Optional Village Stop.
12.30 – 14.30 Lunch – Lunch will be 2 courses with local wine, water and coffee at a typical restaurant or osteria.
15.00 – 17.00 Afternoon Wine Tasting – Following lunch, we will move on to the second tasting of the day. Again, the location of the winery will depend upon the region chosen.
17.30 Return to Lodging – After the second tasting, you will return to your lodging, typically around 17.30.
What the tour includes, and what it doesn’t…
Included – Program planning, including organisation of transport, appointments and lunch bookings.
A typical 2 course lunch with local wine is also included.
An itinerary will be sent to you prior to the tour and includes dates and times for every visit/stop, links to producers visited, contact information and any applicable fees (e.g.: winery tasting fees).
Not Included – Tasting fees are not included since these vary considerably, especially if private or specialised tastings are requested.
Extra courses at lunch are not usually included, nor courses containing truffles. Finer wines such as Barolo or Barbaresco, for example, are also not included.
Extra activities such as cooking classes, truffle hunts and other specialised activities or visits are not included. Pricing for these can be provided upon request.
As mentioned above, this is the starting point for your wine tasting adventure in Piemonte. If you are interested in visiting more producers, with less time spent in the cellars and vineyards, then I can accomodate that. If you would like to mix-and-match food and wine activities, then we can do that. If you are interested in more than one day in the region, then there is a button below for that. If you are interested in just food producers, there is another button for that. And if you would like to visit other regions in Italy, there is even a button for that…!
