Welcome to PiemonteMio – My Piemonte…
Discover PiemonteMio
Nowhere in Italy can offer as much as Piemonte when it comes to what’s on your plate and in your glass. The wines are the most interesting in the land and the cuisine, courtesy of the Savoyard Empire, is a sublime blend of French and Italian.
The glories of Italian regional larders are overwhelmingly to be found in small, family-owned producers, and Piemonte is no exception. People making authentic wines or foods deeply rooted in the area, and restaurants making traditional dishes from locally-sourced ingredients.
The wines are easily accessible, the food wonderfully seasonal and crowned with the glorious White Truffle.
I have information on how to get here, as well as where to eat, drink and sleep when you arrive.
Come with me and experience the Piemonte that the locals know…

“I came to Piemonte to work one grape harvest. That was over 20 years ago…”

Of course, food & wine are what most visitors to the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato come for, but Piemonte has much more to offer than just that: from Olympic ski and winter sports resorts, through wonderful Alpine hiking, to Italy’s first capital city, Turin – home to some of the best museums, art, architecture, and the best automotive design in the world. To say nothing of the café culture and fashion shopping…

Springing into Summer
It's been a memorable if ridiculously busy summer made special by having the whole family here last month; the 5 kids, partners, 6 grandchildren and even the ex-wife. A lot of wine tasted and drunk with lots of laughter. The weather has been great with the pool at...
Looking for somewhere to stay?
So you've decided to visit the Langhe to discover the wine and the food but want some independence and privacy at the end of the day. Somewhere to relax and enjoy your purchases from a day's wine-tasting or market visits without the constraints necessarily imposed by...
Time to eat
Around Easter it seems to be one set menu after another which is a good opportunity to support local restaurants that are not necessarily regular haunts. Recently for example we booked at "i due Regni" a local pizzeria that was offering a set lunch and were blown away...
…and now for something completely different La Trava, Mango
Despite its proximity, I had never visited a vineyard outside "the Zone" in Mango until a week or so ago when I drove 5km and a few hundred metres higher from our house in the valley next to Neive. La Trava is in an historic location made famous by the writings of...
A day in Torino
Turin is a much underrated City full of history, museums, monuments, bars, restaurants and everything you would expect from an Italian Provincial Capital. Our friends Robert and Leslie Alexander at Travel Langhe often take visitors there who are invariably surprised...
Deltetto and the search for Favorita
One of our friends with a base in Tuscany recently asked me to buy him some Favorita from Claudio Rapalino one of our neighbours. It is closely related to the Tuscan Vermentino and Claudio makes one of the best that regularly features on our shopping list....
HOW TO GET TO THE LANGHE
So you have seen and – I hope – read about the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. Now you need to get here…

There are major international airports serving Piemonte in Turin and Milan, as well as smaller ones in Cuneo and Genoa.
Nice is only a couple of hours away, and Geneva is convenient for many of the ski resorts.
